CERAMICS OPEN STUDIO

NEW FORMAT FOR 2010!

 

For those with intermediate to advanced ceramics experience, our Open Studio program provides time, equipment and space to work independently on projects in the Art House studio. Our spacious Quonset hut studio houses eleven throwing wheels, a slab roller, two large kilns and additional tools. We pride ourselves on fostering a friendly and supportive environment in which creativity can flourish.

To participate in Ceramics Open Studio, you must be currently enrolled in an Art House ceramics class, or have taken one within the past calendar year.

Ceramics Open Studio Times:

    Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00 - 4:00pm*

Payment Information:

  • $15 for single session  
  • $100 for one month of sessions
  • Payment required in full prior to participation
  • Includes locker space (lock not included), one     bisque firing and one glaze firing (scheduled every 6 to 8 weeks)

Clay and Supplies:

  • Clay used in Ceramics Open Studio must be purchased from Art House, Inc.
  • New clay is available for $15 / 25lbs
  • Recycled clay is available for $12 / 25lbs
  • Full payment required prior to receiving clay. Clay to be retrieved from storage by Art House staff only.

Ceramics Open Studio participants responsible for:

  • cleaning up and leaving the AH studio by 4pm
  • maintaining a clean working environment
  • being a considerate community member
  • purchasing clay through Art House
  • recycling clay in the AH system or individually
  • using the AH pre-sink-clean-up system prior to using the sink
  • informing AH staff about any equipment or general studio maintenance problems
  • signing up for or renewing a locker space each month    

Art House is responsible for:

  • providing glazes
  • providing a locker
  • providing working throwing wheels
  • providing a safe studio environment

Art House is not responsible for:

  • lost or stolen personal items, clay, ceramic pieces or tools
  • broken, cracked, or misplaced ceramic work
  • providing instruction during studio hours

*Occasionally, the Art House studio may be needed for other purposes during Ceramics Open Studio.  Art House reserves the right to cancel open studio sessions.
