Do you ever find yourself wishing that you had the most expensive art supplies so that you can create "good" art? Or thinking to yourself "If I just had those (fill in the blank), my art would look so much better." Well think again! Believe me, I find myself thinking these things too from time to time. Most of the time when we see those social media posts or watch those Youtube videos of artists using an expensive product, we think, "My art will look just as good as theirs if I had that $150 watercolor palette." But in all reality, you do not need high-end, expensive art supplies to produce good art. Technically, you do not even need art supplies to produce good art! You can use anything that you have laying around your house to make art with. Just because you don't have the most highest quality paint set, brushes, markers, etc. does not mean that your art is not good. Good art will come from practice, not products. It's okay to buy the lowest quality art supplies, especially if you're just starting out on a new medium. When I started working with watercolors, I bought the cheapest watercolor paper, the cheapest set of paint, and two cheap brushes. I had never used watercolors before, so why would I spend $60 on a new paint set when I had never used them? If I ended up not liking watercolor, then I would be stuck with an expensive set. Don't think that you have to have the most expensive products to make good art. Let your creativity run wild. Be innovative in new art supplies, media and techniques. Look up inspiration and think to yourself, "How can I make this my own?" And most importantly, don't compare yourself to other artists who have been practicing for years. Keep producing art and you'll go far!
